How to participate in #readinglikegenerals
The WHHS Library #readinglikegenerals Book Club meets once each quarter. You can come once or every time, it's up to you.
- Step One - Read the book. Check out a copy from the WHHS library, public library, Overdrive, or you may use your own copy.
- Step Two - Once you have read the ENTIRE book you may sign-up to attend the book club meeting. The first rule of Book Club is that you do not sign up until you have finished the book. The second rule of Book Club is that you do not sign up until you have finished reading the book (also see "How to be a good book club member")
- Step Three - Think about what you are going to talk about at book club. Use the discussion guide and take some notes.
- Step Four - Attend the book club meeting in the library conference room (the "Red Room") during your lunch period on the designated day. You will need to have a pass in your agenda from your second or third block teacher. Mrs. Fansher provides free lunch and does the best she can to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies. If you are concerned about what what will be served or do not like the lunch that will be provided you may bring your own lunch.
How to be a good book club member

About the book:
"Fans of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy will just love this creepy and alluring teen thriller. Complete with action, techie intrigue, a horrifying mystery, and a blossoming romance full of sparks, Find Me is an exhilarating debut. When teen hacker and foster child Wick Tate finds a dead classmate's diary on her front step, with a note reading "Find me," she sets off on a perverse game of hide-and-seek to catch the killer. But things get even more personal as Wick's deadbeat dad returns and the killer points to Wick's sister Lily as the next target. With the help of oh-so-cute hacker-boy-next-door Griff, can Wick find her tormenter and save her sister?" |
spring 2015 - Fourth Quarter Book club - panic by lauren oliver
For our last book club of the year we will read Panic by Lauren Oliver.
This book club meeting will be on Tuesday, May 12 during all three lunches.
From the author's website:
"Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.
Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.
Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn't know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.
For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most.
Already optioned by Universal Pictures in a major deal, this gritty, spellbinding novel captures both the raw energy of fear mixed with excitement, as well as the aching need to find a place to belong."
